Dr. Ati visits MSU-BC

Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Macabangkit P. Ati of Mindanao State University-Marawi Campus visited MSU-Buug College, June 25, 2007 for school assessment.

In a statement that he made during the flag raising ceremony, Dr. Ati said that MSU-Buug is truly very different now than the last time he saw the school during the installation of Sultan Taha G. Sarip as the school’s new administrator last August 2006. He stressed that he was very happy to see the rapid developments in MSU-Buug. “In less than a year, the school has turned out to be well-developed both physically and academically and I strongly support MSU-BC in its endeavors, “he added.

Together with Dr. Ati were Dr. Cosain Derico, the dean of the Graduate School of MSU-Marawi; Professor Catherine Ballesil, faculty of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Chemistry Department and the Special Assistant of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (OVCAA); and Mr. Maricon Viray, also a faculty of MSU and the Technical Assistant of OVCAA.

Dr. Macabangkit Ati and party also visited the College of Nursing at Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

To acquaint students on school policies
MSU-BC conducts General Orientation

Mindanao State University –Buug College conducted a one-day General Convocation and Orientation Program at the school’s mini gymnasium at 8 o’clock in the morning, June 20, 2007.

The program was conducted to acquaint the students especially the freshmen, on the school rules and regulations, and to keep the students abreast on the latest developments in MSU-BC.

Director Sultan Taha G. Sarip inspired every student through his message. He further announced the newly-offered courses such as BS in Information Technology, Bachelor in Elementary Education, BS in Nursing and Hotel & Restaurant Management.

Other speakers were Prof. Edna EngaƱo, the college registrar, Mr. Manuel Siaron Jr., the high school registrar, Prof. Ruth Mirafuentes, Prof. Beecher Solis, Mr. Usman Salipada, Mrs. Noraida Lomangco, and Mrs. Janeth Bacang.

The general convocation and orientation was participated in by students from the high school and the college departments. It was also noted that nursing students from MSU-BC – Ipil Extension attended the whole day event. Mr. Bryan Domato hosted the said program.

Bae Sonita Ryde donates computers

To keep the students highly competitive in this age of computerization, Bae Labi Sonita Manlin Mande Ryde donated sets of computers to MSU-Buug College.

A simple turning - over of the five units personal computers, two units computer printers and two units computer scanners was made with the presence of Director Sultan Taha G. Sarip, who represented the donee, Dr. Amina Domato-Sarip, and MSU-BC mentors.

These computer units and accessories are now at the computer room for the use of the whole studentry.

Mrs. Ryde, who now resides in London, was also the co-host of the enthronement of Dr. Ricardo De Leon as “Datu A Romapenet Sa Mindanao” last Dec. 2006.

FIRST COLLEGE BOUND PROGRAM SPELLS SUCCESS

Mindanao State University-Buug College successfully conducted The First College Bound Program(CBP) to incoming freshmen students whose SASE result was 40 and up. The said program was held last April 16- May 21, 2007 through the strong leadership of Director Sultan Taha G. Sarip. High-calibered Mathematics teachers and the equally Class A English and Values Education mentors of MSU-BC were hired to teach the CBP.

More than 70 incoming freshmen students responded to the call but only 63 of them successfully finished the very rigid classes and got the chance to enroll in a baccalaureate course.

The month-long program aimed at strengthening the students’ knowledge in the field of English, Math and Values Education.

Red-Letter Day for MSU-BC Family
April 4, 2007 will always be a date to remember for MSU-BC family. Sir Taha turned 52!

A simple yet very endearing celebration was held in the evening of that same day at D’Green Palace Inland Resort. A surprise birthday program was given and all MSU-BC faculty and staff gave their birthday wisheswhich made the night even more meaningful. There were lots of singing and gift-giving.
According to the director, it was his very first time to celebrate his natal day. In his response to the wishes of the faculty and staff, he said that if only he was a woman, he would have cried. He was deeply touched by the support shown to him by the MSU-BC family in his administration. He thanked all employees for their positive response to his plans for the unit.
The night ended up at 11:00 PM with the sweetest smile on everyone’s face and a joyful heart filled with good memories. It was indeed a red-letter day for MSU-BC family.

President De Leon graces Commencement Exercises

Mindanao State University-Buug College held its Commencement Exercises last March 26, 2007 at the MSU-BC mini-gymnasium at ten O’clock in the morning. Just before the program started, the ribbon-cutting and unveiling of the building mark of the Center for Information Technology was done. After a short while, the graduation exercises commenced. Sultan Taha G. Sarip, the very active director of MSU-Buug College did the honor of presenting the officials and guests. Present in the said affair were Prof. Salic A. Abdul, the dean of the King Faisal Center for Islamic, Arabic and Asian Studies (KCFIAAS), who at the same time was the Baccalaureate Speaker of the college department, his better-half Hja. Ashia M. Dimakuta-Abdul, Dr. Cesar P. Demayo, the Commencement Speaker and the MSU System President Dr. Ricardo F. De Leon. President De Leon did the conferment of Degrees and Titles to the graduates. It was indeed a very memorable occasion for the MSU-BC family for it was the very first time in the history of MSU-Buug’s graduation ceremony that an occasion like this was graced by no less than the MSU-System President. In the evening of that same day, a simple yet very meaningful get-together party of the graduates, both high school and college, was made at the Green Palace Inland Resort. President De Leon, through the advent of high technology, brought the graduates to a “campus tour” of MSU-Marawi. The graduates, in return, were so enthralled seeing the beauty of the main campus.

BS NURSING TO OPEN SOON
Sultan Taha Guro Sarip, the director of MSU-BC very early this year announced the opening of Bachelor of Science in Nursing at MSU-Buug College the soonest possible time. This was a confirmation of the announcement made by the University President during his first official visit to the college in September 2006. According to him, he was moved by the clamor of the high school students who wanted to take up BS Nursing but cannot enroll in other colleges and universities because of distance and the high cost of tuition fees. Furthermore, the President explained that the course shall be closely supervised by the college of Health and Sciences of MSU-Main Campus, Marawi City, although managed by the director of MSU-BC. President De Leon challenged the employees of MSU-BC to work cooperatively and to give their whole-hearted support to the college director for the realization of such project.
